Description:

Pyridium is a drug indicated for the symptomatic treatment of dysuria caused by irritation of the mucous membrane of the lower urinary tract due to infection, trauma, surgery, endoscopic procedures.

Composition: the main component is phenazopyridine.
Excipients: sodium carboxymethyl starch, microcrystalline cellulose, silicon dioxide, talc, magnesium stereate.

How does the drug work?

Phenazopyridine, excreted in the urine, acts on the mucous membrane of the lower urinary tract, where it has a local analgesic effect. It helps to reduce dysuric phenomena including pain, burning, frequent urination. The exact mechanism of action is unknown.

How to take and dosage.

The drug is taken orally after a meal. Tablets should be swallowed whole, without chewing and with a full glass of water.
Adults are prescribed 2 tablets. (200 mg) 3 times / day.
Duration of admission – no more than 2 days (including in combination with antimicrobial agents).

Side effect: headache, dizziness, general weakness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, skin rash, itching, fever.
Contraindications: hypersensitivity to the drug, impaired liver function, kidney and liver failure, anemia, breastfeeding period, pregnancy, age up to 18 years.
